rector search

St. Mark’s in the Bowery has just completed the process of searching for our next Rector. In mid-February, the vestry announced that we have called the Rev. Anne Sawyer, who will join us in the spring of 2017.

History of the Search Process

In 2015, an interim priest was selected by the vestry. Rev. Dr. Allison Moore joined us in August.

The vestry formed a search committee in the fall of 2015. Over the winter, the committee created a parish survey and hosted town hall meetings to gather feedback from the congregation.

The committee, with the support of the diocese, created a profile for our church and received applications over the course of two months in early 2016

They then selected a subset of candidates and interviewed each of them via written questions, video interviews and in person interviews. Final candidates were presented to the Bishop and then presented to the vestry in the winter of 2016/17.

The vestry interviewed the final candidates and selected our new Rector in February of 2017.

We are grateful to all who participated in this process and we look forward to welcoming the Rev. Anne Sawyer to our congregation !
