“Is God among us or not?” asked the people of Israel, thirsty and despairing in the wilderness. “Give me this water, so that I may never be thirsty,” demanded the unnamed woman at the well. The Rev. David Rider, President & Executive Director of the Seamen’s Church Institute (SCI), will celebrate and preach.  Since 1834, SCI has served as an outreach ministry of the Episcopal Church to seafarers entering New York Harbor.  SCI’s chaplains visit ships arriving from around the world, and SCI’s Center for Seafarers’ Rights addresses global concerns like piracy, shore leave access, abandoned ships and medical rights of seafarers. SCI’s Ministry on the River and Center for Maritime Education also supports American merchant mariners along the Ohio and Mississippi Rivers from Pittsburgh to New Orleans and Houston.  Visit SCI’s website at seamenschurch.org.
