Artist’s Statement

1. A state of armed conflict between different nations or states or different groups
within a nation or state.
2. A state of competition, conflict, or hostility between different people or groups.
1. The activity of reviewing one’s actions and feeling sorrow or regret for past wrongs,
accompanied by commitment to change for the better.
2.A commitment to personal change and the resolve to live a more responsible and
humane life.

The themes in the  program, War and Repentance, reflect the layered anguish
that I feel over the conditions mankind currently faces. Throughout history, war,
poverty, famine, police brutality, pestilence, and the exploitation of the vulnerable,
have existed, persist, and I fear, are now being experienced as commonplace to our world.

I am presenting song repertoire that expresses my angst over our specie’s
ongoing dysfunctional politics and the atrocities we commit against one another.
It is my hope to provide you with similar catharsis, as well as reassurance that
you are not alone in what you similarly see. May the warring cease, and may
the repentance begin.

Peace, Love & Joy,
Anthony Turner
